Overview
Leaside is by far one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Central Toronto. It's an ideal place to raise your family due to the strong sense of community, the fine selection of schools, the abundant green space, parkland and recreational facilities and one of Toronto's best shopping districts on Bayview Avenue. Furthermore, Leaside has excellent access to public transportation.
In light of its high profile, it is not surprising that Leaside is very desirable and one of the more expensive real estate districts in Central Toronto.
Near by Leaside, you'll find Bennington Heights - one of Toronto's most exclusive and expensive neighbourhoods. Bennington Heights is bound on two sides by the bluffs of the Don River Valley ravine and on the north by Mount Pleasant Cemetery. These natural barriers help preserve the peaceful tranquility of this neighbourhood.
Further south, you'll find yourself in Governor's Bridge. This is an exclusive enclave of approximately one hundred and fifteen homes nestled in a wooded ravine valley which hides the fact that this neighbourhood is just five minutes from downtown Toronto.
There is very little turnover of homes in this highly sought after neighbourhood and its easy to see why once you experience the peace and tranquility that this idyllic setting offers to its residents.
Homes
The Leaside community is made up predominantly of single-family homes in traditional Tudor style designs dating from the 1930's and '40's. There is a good mix of two-storey detached and semi-detached houses, and while a large number of Leaside bungalows have been replaced by new custom designed homes, an over-riding effort has been made to keep architectural exterior details in place, such as leaded glass, cut stone and wide wooden trim.
